Understanding a learner’s thinking and learning profile

Cognitive assessment provides information about areas such as reasoning, problem-solving, memory and other cognitive abilities relevant to learning and development.

Assessment is conducted using appropriate psychometric measures within my scope of practice as an HPCSA-registered Psychometrist. Results are interpreted together with the referral question and relevant educational information.

Where further specialist assessment is indicated, an appropriate referral will be recommended.

Learning Support

Understanding learning difficulties and identifying the next step

Learning support may include assessment and guidance for difficulties involving reading, spelling, written work, mathematics, attention and other barriers to learning.

Screening may also form part of the process where concerns regarding dyslexia, ADHD, autism or other learning differences have been raised.

The aim is to identify strengths, areas of difficulty and appropriate support or referral.

Career Guidance

Making informed choices for the future

Career guidance helps learners and young adults explore their interests, abilities, strengths and possible career directions.

The process may include psychometric assessment, discussion of educational pathways and practical guidance regarding future study and career options.

The aim is not to choose a career for the client, but to provide meaningful information that supports an informed decision.

Parent Support

Practical guidance for everyday parenting challenges

Parent support provides a confidential space to discuss concerns regarding a child’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour, learning, development or adjustment.

Guidance is practical and tailored to the needs of the child and family. Where appropriate, strategies for home and school may be discussed and further assessment or referral recommended.

Professional support for learners, educators and schools

Services for schools and educators may include learner-support consultation, workshops, study-skills programmes, parent education and guidance regarding barriers to learning.

Support can be adapted to the needs of individual schools, educators, parents or learner groups.
